Power Lab Workshop

-

The pre-conference workshop titled “Designing Research Projects with PowerLab – Explore, Experiment, and Excel with PowerLab in Physiology Projects” was successfully conducted as part of the 19th International Pakistan Physiological Society (PPS) Conference 2025 at the NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS), NUST in collaboration with Bolan Medical College, Pakistan Physiological Society, and the South Asian Association of Physiologists (SAAP). Organized under the theme of ‘’Research in Physiology’’ NSHS-NUST, the workshop was held in a hybrid format, enabling wide participation. A total of 20 participants attended in person, while 28 joined online, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.

The session was moderated by Dr. Hira Moin (Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology, NSHS-NUST), who welcomed participants and set the tone for the day’s activities. The workshop began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem. Prof. Dr. Munazza Mohtashim, Head of the Department of Physiology, NSHS-NUST, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the critical role of research and innovative technologies in advancing the field of physiology.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Farmanullah (Lecturer, Department of Physiology, NSHS-NUST), who introduced PowerLab as a versatile tool for physiological research and guided participants through its applications and Department of Physiology. The program featured an ice-breaking activity, a Kahoot-based assessment to gauge baseline knowledge, an introduction to PowerLab and its basic utilization, a conceptual presentation on its applications, and a hands-on session that allowed participants to gain practical experience. A discussion on ongoing and prospective research projects further enriched the session, linking the technical aspects of PowerLab with real-world research opportunities.

The hybrid setup fostered effective interaction between online and in-person attendees, making the experience lively and inclusive. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants valuing the innovative structure, collaborative spirit, and the engaging use of interactive tools. The success of this workshop was made possible through the dedication, teamwork, and collective efforts of the entire Department of Physiology, NSHS-NUST. The certificates will be awarded by organizers of 19th International PPSC, 2025.
