Biochemistry Department Gamification Finale

-

A series of technologically integrated Gamification Sessions were conducted batch-wise during the Biochemistry practical slots of 2nd Year MBBS classes to foster deep medical learning, rapid clinical reasoning, and collaborative academic engagement. The activity was designed as an innovative educational intervention utilizing the self-developed interactive Computer gaming platform on Wayground software, integrating principles of adaptive learning, competitive assessment, and real-time cognitive analytics. The competition featured a structured bank of MCQ-based questions of Biochemistry strategically categorized into easy, moderate, and high-complexity levels to assess conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and applied biomedical knowledge. The scoring algorithm incorporated a time-sensitive response system, rewarding early and accurate responders with higher cumulative scores, thereby promoting swift clinical decision-making and precision under pressure.

Students competed in preliminary rounds conducted over four days, with the winning teams from each session advancing to the Grand Finale of Gamification held on 14th May, 2026. The event was honored by the presence of the Principal of NSHS as the chief guest, who also awarded a cash prize to the champion team in recognition of their exceptional academic excellence and teamwork.

A clinical scenario–based quiz was also conducted at the end to enhance patient-centered medical learning and clinical reasoning. Students were assessed on differential diagnosis, appropriate investigations, and evidence-based management using an innovative “Organ Health Scale,” with enthusiastic participation throughout the activity.
