BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SEMINAR AND WORLD FOOD DAY
-The event dedicated to breast cancer awareness and World Food Day was successfully organized by NUST School of Health Sciences on 24th October, 2024. It commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the National anthem. Dr Rizwan Ashraf, Principal NSHS, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of breast cancer awareness and its associated risk factors. He also highlighted the significance of World Food Day and the importance of healthy eating habits. The Principal encouraged students and faculty to actively participate in future events of this nature. In closing, he expressed gratitude to the esteemed guests and keynote speakers, warmly welcoming them to the NUST School of Health Sciences. The guest speaker, Dr. Humera Mehmood, Head of the Clinical Oncology and Radiation Oncology Department at the Atomic Energy Hospital, provided valuable insights into the incidence of breast cancer in Pakistan and the rise in new cases. She presented a comprehensive overview of the disease, its associated risk factors, and management strategies. Additionally, she elaborated on the diagnostic services and treatment options available to all patients at the Atomic Energy Oncology Department. The second guest speaker, Dr. Abdul Momin ,Assistant professor at Department of Nutrition and Dietetics NUMS , effectively articulated the significance of World Health Day and the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits. He discussed the correlation between unhealthy food consumption and various diseases, emphasizing that a nutritious diet contributes to an improved lifestyle.
