-Quality Assurance & Accreditation Awareness Seminar at NUST School of Health Sciences, Islamabad
for BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics Degree Program, 6th March 2024
NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS) is a constituent college of National University of Science and
Technology (NUST). It has launched the BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) program in Feb 2024.
Current enrollment in BS Human Nutrition and Dietetic is 49 students.
A Quality Assurance & Accreditation Awareness Seminar was conducted for BS HND at NSHS. Dr. Rizwan
Ashraf, Principal NSHS, Dr. Aamir Ijaz HOD HND, Dr. Nadia Nisar, Program Coordinator HND, Mr. Abdul
Rehman, Deputy Director Administration and Mr. Muhammad Raheem, Deputy Directory Student Affairs
received the honorable guests, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary NAEAC and Mr. Abdullah, Program
Coordinator NAEAC at the campus.
The proceedings began at Conference Room NSHS, with recitation from the Holy Quran. Faculty of HND
and representatives from NUST were also present for the seminar. The session was attended by Dr. Azhar
Masood, Deputy Director Registrar Directorate, Dr. Zahra Rashid, Deputy Director Quality Assurance
Directorate and Mr. Yasir, Deputy Director Academics Directorate. Secretary NAEAC was briefed about
the facilities, infrastructure and R&D initiatives at NUST and NSHS. Dr. Aamir Ijaz gave an overview of the
HND Department and program. Following this, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary NAEAC delivered his talk on
“Quality assurance and accreditation in higher education”. The Secretary introduced the NAEAC,
explained the evaluation criteria of accreditation process (8 standards and 73 substandards) and impact
of accreditation on quality improvement through the accreditation data of last 14 years. He explained the
overall process of accreditation and its significance in maintaining the quality of education. He emphasized
that as many institutions are offering agriculture and allied related degree programs, therefore it is
essential to ensure the quality of education and research facilities provided to the students by these
institutions. This was followed by a Q&A session. Principal NSHS thanked the honorable guests and
assured to fulfill the accreditation requirements of NAEAC in compliance with quality standards. Lastly,
Principal NSHS presented souvenirs to NAEAC team.
