-Pandemic Preparedness in Healthcare and Women in STEM: Dr Sadiqa Tarar Speaks at NSHS
The NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS) successfully hosted an insightful guest lecture on 17 December 2025 at Lecture Hall 2, featuring Dr. Sadiqa Tarar, Doctor of Engineering from The George Washington University (GWU).
The session commenced with Tilawat-e-Quran and the National Anthem, followed by a warm welcome from the Principal, NSHS, and the formal introduction of the esteemed guest speaker. In the first session, Dr. Sadiqa Tarar delivered an engaging and thought-provoking lecture highlighting systemic challenges in hospital overcrowding in Pakistan and emphasizing the importance of preparedness for public health emergencies.
In the second session, Dr. Tarar shared her inspiring academic and professional journey, encouraging students—particularly young women—to pursue careers in STEM and contribute to innovation and research.
Both sessions were followed by interactive Q&A segments, allowing students to actively engage with the speaker. The event concluded with a souvenir presentation, group photograph, and tea & refreshments.
The lecture proved to be a valuable learning experience, fostering academic insight, critical thinking, and motivation among students and faculty alike.
