NUST Shines at APICTA Awards

A multidisciplinary project presented by Team NUST secured First Runner-Up at APICTA 2025. It is one of the most prestigious international technology competitions across 16 member countries. The team was supervised by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman Akram, and co-supervised by Dr. Ayesha Haque (NSHS) and Dr. Arslan Shaukat (BIOMISA) Students from the Department of Computer and Software Engineering, CoEME, NUST under the BIOMISA Lab showcased OsteoScreen, an AI-driven osteoporosis screening application developed as an affordable and accessible alternative to DEXA scans. Participants of the awards program comprise members of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA). Members of APICTA consist of 16 economies including: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.They are guided by the framework of cooperation identifying how member-economies can work together in support of the awards program as well as other programs that foster development and growth in the region
