a) Multimodal Data-Based Bone Mineral Density Estimation for Osteoporosis Screening and Severity Analysis Using Deep Learning
This project addresses the challenges of diagnosing osteoporosis in absence of access to DEXA scanning facility. Utilizing radiographic images and blood parameters, a web-based diagnostic tool is being developed to estimate bone mineral density (BMD). Focusing on the lumbar spine and femur, a localization model extracts the regions of interest. Data has been collected from CDA Hospital and NORI in Islamabad, and internal data validation is currently underway with external datasets. This project is approved by the National Research Program (NRP) and has been submitted to the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) for funding.
b) Evaluating Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Cellular Senescence in Aging Among the Hunza Population
This study aims to investigate mitochondrial function and cellular senescence markers within the aging dynamics of the Hunza population. Data collection is ongoing, with a focus on understanding age-related changes at the cellular level in this unique demographic.
